Jesus was Homeless!
At Christmas time, we celebrate the birth of Jesus who the Bible says was God coming into the world to show us what God is like and to make it possible for us to have a real relationship with God.
My children were born in hospitals, although Stephen was nearly born in the car park outside the hospital! My overriding thought at that moment was: ‘we have to get into the hospital’. If I had all the resources in the universe at my disposal, and I could choose where to be born, I am sure that I could come up with a better place than a barn! I wonder what Jesus’ choice tells us about who he is and what is important to him?
Throughout his life, Jesus identified with the poor, the needy and outcasts. He came into the world not as a celebrity or as a superstar, but despite the poor surroundings of his birth, people recognised his greatness and that there was something special about this child.
In honour of the fact that Jesus was homeless during the first Christmas, we are going to raise some money for ‘Toybox’ a charity that works with homeless children in
